I probably won’t make it past Toni but I’m pushing myself to finish them all anyway. If you aspire to become a great writer, you have to read great writing. I would say that it is necessary, even essential – but yall know I hate absolutes. But, if you want to get better, reading great writing is a start. You learn about syntax and ways to create suspense and tension. You’ll increase your vocabulary. And you’ll learn how writers – without the aid of CGI, or music or beautiful lighting – with mere words create experiences for their readers that trump the actual visual! (that’s why the book is always better than the movie)
